RETREATS AT ANAM CARA

We plan to offer a variety of short and long retreats and workshops, with a broad range of themes from sustainability and collapse conversations, shadow work, conflict resolution, Indigenous perspectives, decolonial futures to various spiritual disciplines. They will come up from time to time and will be linked down below for more information.

During retreat stays you will still be a part of the rhythm of the homestead, but rather than Karma Yoga, your mornings and afternoons will be following the program of the retreat.

It is also possible to use the space of Anam Cara to run your own retreat or workshop. If interested, please email anamcarahomestead@proton.me

Primal Living Retreat

April 13th to 20th 2024

This is the first of what we hope to be a series of retreat weeks exploring what it is to be a primal human, along with how and why modern humans have lost touch with their innate nature-connected consciousness.

The core of this retreat series is to offer pathways back to being in right relationship with ourselves and with Country.

Yin Paradies, Wakaya man and Professor of Indigenous knowledges, co-facilitates this week of healing, expansion and co-creation along with Victoria McKay, Custodian of the Anam Cara Homestead. Guest facilitator, Dr Colm McNaughton, will offer his reimagining of the practices to heal and revive Gaelic Indigenous traditions.

This retreat aims to give participants a deep-dive experience that not only fosters clarity and healing in their own lives, but creates ripple effects out into a world where humanity as a collective is in dire need of healing and ancient wisdoms.

This retreat will cover:

- grief tending

-'lore' versus 'law'

- fire ceremonies

- wilding practices

- group process work

- nature-based meditations

- introduction to shamanic journeying

- nature movement practices

- decolonising conversations

- exploration of right relationship

- emotional healing and congruity

- conversation circles on Indigeneity and   animism

You will spend the week immersed in nature (BYO tent, car-camping or campervan) with the modern facilities of the Anam Cara community house at your disposal for hot showers and comfortable spaces to unwind. All meals will be organic and vegetarian with dietary requirements catered for.

The everyday running of the homestead will continue around you during the retreat, and there will be a chance each day for retreat guests to participate in some of the nourishing tasks of homestead life, helping to ground, balance and embody the skills and qualities explored in the retreat workshop sessions.

The 50-acre homestead provides the perfect setting for this retreat, with 25 acres of pasture, 25 acres of bushland, a beautiful dam for swimming, surrounded by state forest and rolling hills. Anam Cara is an hours drive from Melbourne, and accessible by public transport (we offer a drop-off/pick-up service to Healesville).

There are a limited number of places available as we are keeping numbers low to ensure participants are well-supported during their retreat journey, while co-creating an intimate, safe space together.

Sliding scale prices for the 7-day retreat are:

$550 - $450 - $350

These prices are intended to cover costs for the overall running of the homestead rather than for profit margins. Anam Cara Homestead is committed to offering retreats that are financially available to all, and as such, this sliding scale is a guide for each participant to consider alongside their income/monetary wealth.
